Back-up a buddy

Back-Up is a dynamic national charity working with people paralysed through spinal cord injury to rebuild self confidence and independence.

Back-Up organise a varied programme of activity courses throughout the year, which integrate spinally injured participants and able-bodied volunteers.

These act as a catalyst which can totally change someone's attitude to disability and enable them to focus on how much is possible.

In a programme over the next 3 years we at SpinaLaw are to sponsor a different person from the North-West each year to attend a course as a 'Buddy' for a spinal injured person wishing to take advantage of the opportunity presented to them by Back-Up.

A Buddy is the term used for able bodied participants on Back-Up courses. The aim of the courses is to fully integrate the spinally injured participants and able bodied "buddies" to tackle the various challenges of the course together.

The emphasis is very much on teamwork and having fun. Back-Up is a national charity reliant entirely on individual fundraising and voluntary contributions therefore we are very happy to sponsor buddies and carers and support the great work Back-Up carry out.
