Susan was a dinner-lady at a school canteen before sustaining a complete severance to the spinal cord in an accident. After the accident Susan was taken to the Princess Royal Spinal Injuries Centre in Sheffield. She found out that she would now be wheelchair dependant for her mobility. In the months of rehabilitation at the specialist centre Susan learnt crucial life skills and substantial interim payments secured by Fletchers enabled her to buy “the house of my dreams”.Spinal Cord Injury throws up different challenges to women which Susan has coped with admirably.
Susan kindly says“ Because of you I know things are not going to be as tough as I thought”.
Gary, 55, was involved in a road traffic accident that left him a paraplegic wheelchair user.
Before the accident Gary was a drayman for a brewery and was unable to carry on this profession after the accident. To Gary family has always been very important and providing security for them in the future was paramount. In settlement of his claim we secured a compensation payment for Gary whose wife, Chris, described as “beyond our wildest expectations.”

“You have been absolutely brilliant and your whole attitude means you have been like a true friend not just someone who has been working for me. I find you relate to me Ed because of your own spinal cord injury and there is nothing like first hand experience.”
“The end result -was far more than we expected and that is down to you when I would have settled for a lot less, so once again thank you. It's nice to meet people like you in life who made it personal to do the best for me rather than just doing your job.”
“If it hadn't had been for your ability to know a wheelchair users needs I would probably have settled for half of what I received. Through your knowledge and background of spinal injuries you got a better deal for me than I could ever have imagined for which I will be eternally grateful.”
Chris (wife) “The settlement you have achieved is beyond our wildest expectations.”

Chris is a T3 complete paraplegic wheelchair user as a result of injuries sustained after a collision on the M27 motorway.
Chris was admitted to the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Injuries Centre in Salisbury where he underwent 5 months of intensive rehabilitation.
Chris’ rehab was unusual in that he also lost his right leg in the accident therefore numerous day to day functions, such as transfers, had to be taught in a slightly different way. He was assisted throughout by his partner Lynne.
From the day of the accident Fletchers have been there for Chris helping to organise housing, physiotherapy, case management and interim payments even before liability had been formally admitted.
This allowed Chris to get on with his life and start planning for the future.
Richard and Karen Wilson are parents of Nick, a client of mine from Huddersfield, who is a T2 complete paraplegic wheelchair user.
Richard Says:
“No one could have done any more for our son than you.”
“Everything you told us Nick would go through has happened”
“You dealt with matters fairly and thoroughly.”
“I have always been cautious of solicitors and you have changed that.”
Karen Says:
“You are a friend who has been with us from the start.”
“In the early days we found the way you could relate to Nick so comforting - you could tell him the truth about obstacles he would come across in life.”
Karen “Your insight, experience and knowledge set you apart.”
Nick was an independent 33 year old whose life was devastated when he broke his back in a motorcycling accident.
Nick sustained damage to his spinal cord which led to a loss of motor function in his legs to the extent that he now has to use a wheelchair.
His pre-accident passion was motorcycling and since the injury he has used some of a large interim payment we obtained for him to purchase and adapt a trike.
Returning to his pre-accident hobby helped him with his self-image and dignity.
The award of compensation has enabled our client the financial independence to look forward with confidence and security to the future.
The service we provided to Nick extended to his friends and family. His father, Richard explains…..
“The support you provided to my wife and I during this difficult time was perfect. You were not just providing a service to my son but to the whole family and for that we are truly thankful.”

Paul Filbee, Hull complete T4 Wheelchair user.
From the day of my accident we have tried to meet the repercussions of my injury head on - this accident was not going to stop our life.
However we also needed a solicitor who could work with us in our legal case with the same attitude and approach.
We have found this with Ed Fletcher in both his profesional and personal approach. He has helped us find a route through the tortuous legal minefield without hesitation and brought with him a wealth of experince through the professional team.'
Peter Carr, Cambridge, T6 complete wheelchair user
"The empathy you displayed throughout allowed me to actually get through all the difficulties of such a complex case. Your approach was always professional, endeavouring to get the job done; this despite my emotional trauma, but never in ignorance of it. Always respectful and understanding of my position and feelings, you listened - and that mattered."
"Your help and support has not only been invaluable to me; Tracy would also like to express her gratitude. By your inclusion of Tracy as a vital and integral part throughout she has not only felt that her input has been respected and valued but that her feelings mattered also. We both thank you."
David and Tracy.
