Vacation Schemes Explained

A vac scheme (vacation scheme) is a period of work experience within a law firm which typically runs for 4-6 weeks and provides a more in-depth opportunity to learn than, say, a work experience placement. They offer a unique way to experience working in the legal sector and finding out which area of law, and which law firm, suits you best. Vac schemes also highlight a commitment to a legal career and can lead to potential job opportunities afterwards.

Vac schemes are typically run during the summer break and are popular with students around the country, making applying for one a competitive process. Taking the time to prepare your application and researching the firm can be beneficial to securing a placement.
