CATASTROPHIC INJURY LAWYER – GRADE A

The successful catastrophic injury lawyer will manage cases over a million pounds autonomously and as part of a niche team who are leaders in the field. Therefore the firm needs a lawyer with proven experience working on files at this level.

 

Lawyers from a claimant and defendant background will be considered if they have the technical experience at this level. This is great opportunity for a hungry catastrophic lawyer looking to take the next step in their career.

 

Spinal cord, head and other serious injuries can cause huge disruption to the lives of both the sufferer and their loved ones. They can mean a total rethink of major life decisions, affecting family members, employment, healthcare and everyday life. Serious injuries are by their very nature hugely traumatic and need to be handled with the utmost care and expertise. The personal injury team at Fletchers don’t just deal with compensation claims. We also work with our clients and their families to ensure all of their rehabilitation needs are met. It’s a unique, bespoke approach that really makes a difference to people whose lives have been turned upside down by injury.

 

The Role

Fletchers are  one of the few firms to offer a rare opportunity to specialise in this high profile, and deeply rewarding area of personal injury law.

 

As a Solicitor/CILEX in a growing team you will play an integral role in the team, running a

caseload of Catastrophic/multitrack cases, and working together with Senior Case Handlers on complex cases where appropriate, to deliver an outstanding client experience and progress litigation. You will be responsible for progressing your own caseload. You will work independently under supervision and as part of a team to progress cases in accordance with the department’s procedures to meet agreed personal targets. You will liaise regularly with a wide range of clients and medical professionals, in person, over the phone and in writing. Many of our clients have suffered catastrophic injuries and the role will involve some travel to meet clients and family members and to attend Court hearings and conferences with experts and / or counsel. You will need to show a sensitive and professional approach at all times.

 

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed applicants, who can demonstrate that they will thrive on working in a busy environment. We are looking for candidates with at least eight years’ experience in claimant catastrophic PI claims. It will be helpful (not essential) if suitable candidates have experience of international cases involving elements of foreign law and/or cross border disputes. Foreign language skills would also be helpful, but are not essential.  We are also looking for those who have Business Development interest to assist and become an integral part of promoting Fletchers Catastrophic Team

 

Candidates will need to have excellent client care and communication skills. The successful candidate will need to show that they can cope well under pressure and maintain excellent time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and keep to tight deadlines.

  • Strong negotiation and litigation skills essential
  • Experience of handling a multi-track caseload
  • Proven track record in handling complex, high value cases
  • Experience in dealing with a range of personal injury matters EL, PL, OL, RTA
  • Proven ability to work in a commercially effective manner
  • Ambitious and driven attitude
