Compliance Solicitor/CILEx – (COM004)

ROLE:

To support the Assistant Compliance Officer in ensuring that Fletchers’ legal services are delivered in an effective and compliant manner.

 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. People Management
  • Lead the team, managing the team members
  • Coach, develop and support team members
  • Model “Wise, Kind and Strong” management behaviours
  1. Technical
  • Review and report on changes in compliance rules or legislation affecting the business
  • Assist in drafting policies, procedure and documents in support of the business compliance with any statutory or regulatory obligations
  • Liaise with other business stakeholders in respect of any effects of statutory or regulatory changes to their business areas and, where necessary, assist in change implementation
  • Review and report on any statutory or regulatory considerations in planned business changes
  • Assist with the implementation of any matters raised by the Internal Risk Committee or the Board
  • Report to the Board (quarterly) and the Internal Risk Committee (monthly) in respect of business risks and compliance-based issues
  • Manage risk relationship with our professional indemnity insurers, and deal with any formal negligence claims

KPIs/OUTCOME MEASURES

  1. Number of customer complaints referred to SRA or Legal Ombudsman
  2. Number of GDPR breaches
  3. Reports delivered to the Board and Risk Committee on time and in full
  4. Project-specific KPIs

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience of successfully working in a legal Compliance team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive working relationships with a wide variety of team members and to manage the sensitivities of challenging legal practice appropriately where necessary
  • A good understanding of and the ability to deliver excellent customer service
  • A good understanding of how to balance compliance with business drivers
  • Experience of coaching and supporting team members
  • Ability to role model good practice leadership
  • Technology literate, with the ability to use technology to enhance legal services
  • Strong analytical skills
