Delivery person receives compensation after suffering an injury to the head

Settlement figure: £3,720

Lawyer assigned to the case: Andrea Higham

Our client was a food delivery driver, who was walking in the car park near a shop which was owned and operated by the defendant.  She stepped onto a sunken manhole cover which caused her to fall backwards, and she hit her head on an electric power box that was attached to the wall behind her. The sunken cover had previously been reported by our client’s employers to the defendants but had not been repaired. The cover was replaced after the accident.

Our client sustained the following injuries;

  • Laceration to back of head
  • Headaches and pain to head
  • Bruising to both legs and buttocks

Reflecting on the outcome of the claim, Solicitor and Team Leader Andrea stated:

”Our client was a pleasure to act for. She was so co-operative and engaged in her claim from the beginning. I am delighted that we have beaten the early settlement offer that was made, and that she is happy with the outcome.’’

Following on from this, our client said:

“I have really enjoyed working with Andrea personally, and she explained things easily so I could understand what was going on. I never felt lost, and I knew what was happening all along. I am happy with the settlement.”

Courier receives compensation after suffering an injury whilst making a delivery

Settlement figure: £4,449

Lawyer assigned to the case: James Hammond

Our client was working as a courier and making a delivery at the time of the accident. As he stepped down out of his van, his left foot went into a large pothole. As a result, our client’s ankle twisted, and he fell sidewards to the right. He sustained a soft tissue injury to the left ankle.

Our client was struggling financially following the accident, and we initially managed to secure an interim payment to help with this.

Reflecting on the outcome of the claim, Litigation Executive, James Hammond said:

Our client was struggling financially following the accident, and we initially managed to get him in interim payment to help with this. I am really pleased with the outcome we have secured for him.”

Following on from this, our client said that he would recommend James, and the wider team at Fletchers Solicitors, to his friends and family.
