We’re delighted to announce our partnership with national charity Group B Strep Support, we will be working together to raise a greater awareness of Group B Strep and provide advice and support to families whose babies may have been affected by it.

Group B Strep is the most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies, causing meningitis, sepsis or pneumonia in over 700 babies every year in the UK.

On average in the UK:

  • Two babies every day develop group B Strep infection
  • One baby a week dies from group B Strep infection, and
  • One baby a week survives their group B Strep infection with long-term disability

Christian Beadell, senior solicitor within our Medical Negligence team has been involved with the charity for a number of years and commented on our new partnership.

Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is the most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies. In some cases, children will grow up to need a lifetime of care and, for families affected by GBS, the charity raises vital awareness and offers support.

We are delighted to be able to partner with Group B Strep Support. As a firm we will strive to ensure that families who want to engage in a legal claim to find out what has happened to their child, and why, receive fast and effective advice from experienced lawyers with real understanding of the issues surrounding group B Strep infection.

Jane Plumb MBE, Chief Executive of Group B Strep Support spoke about how she pleased she is that the charity are partnering with Fletchers.

We are delighted to partner with Fletchers who have real experience of working with neonatal group B Strep cases. Having known Christian Beadell since 2011, we know he is passionate that families and their health professionals have good quality information about group B Strep.

By partnering with Fletchers, we can provide information and support to families and their health professionals. We rely on partnerships like these to continue our vital work, and this new partnership will enable us to reach many more of the 800,000 families who have babies each year”

We look forward to working together with Group B Strep Support to raise awareness and provide support and advice to families in the future.
