More must be done to prevent patients falling, new audit finds

A lawyer within our medical team comments on the the latest news that hospitals need to implement more safety measures to to prevent patient falls.

“A recent audit undertaken by the Royal College of Physicians supports an ongoing pattern of failures by NHS hospitals to implement safety measures to reduce the risks of elderly patients from falling. The article touches upon that if best practice measures where adhered to, around 20 to 30% of falls could be prevented. Such failings frequently lead to serious injury and prolonged inpatient admissions. ”
