£21,500 settlement victory for faultless motorcyclist

November 3, 2022

Fletchers Solicitors Serious Injury Solicitor, Neil Downey has settled a case for £21,500 after a vehicle failed to stop at a junction and collided with a motorcyclist.

The claimant, Steve Howard, was travelling down Fulham Road, London, on his motorcycle in very wet conditions when a BMW failed to stop and caused a terrible collision.

The defendant appeared from Steve’s offside view of Sydney Road before colliding with Steve’s motorcycle.

Steve was then propelled into the air before hitting the defendant’s nearside passenger door.

Speaking in reflection of the case, Neil told us:

At the time of the collision Steve had two jobs, one as a motorcycle courier and the other as a security guard.

“The resulting injuries meant Steve was unable to carry out either role a year after the collision.

Steve was then propelled into the air before hitting the defendant’s nearside passenger door.

Steve was 30-years-old at the time of the collision, approaching his thirty first birthday.

When Paramedics were called to the scene, Steve was immediately taken to St Mary’s hospital, Paddington.

As a result, X-rays showed he sustained a fracture of the femur which took two years to heal and received treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Since the accident, Steve works as a security guard but he hasn’t returned to his previous role as a motorcycle courier.

This is something he hopes to do in the future.

In conclusion to the case, the defendant admitted to complete liability in March this year.
