Etape du Tour

The Etape du Tour is an opportunity for thousands of amateur cyclists to challenge themselves, test their strength and compare themselves to the professionals. Established in 1993, the Etape du Tour takes place a few days before the professionals? undertake the Tour de France.

Rob cycled the Etape du Tour, the route of one of the main mountain stages in the Tour de France. The venture itself was over 138km in total. Catherine and Rob joined forces on the last of five major climbs towards the finish line at the ski resort of La Toussuire. They combined their mental strength to force their tired legs up the last 8km of the final climb. The pair took on the challenge together and helped each other to finish the exhausting journey. The duo finished together, cheering each other on, in a great example of professionals working together outside of the traditional environment, and showing true friendship and co-operation.

For this challenge, Rob had set himself the target of reaching the finish line within 10 hours, which he successfully managed. Although challenging, the tough journey was hugely rewarding to complete, with Rob pacing himself properly throughout using his heart rate as a guide and reaching the finish line in just less than his targeted10 hours!
