Graham Rumsey clinches second place in Championship finale!

26th October 2016

Over the last 6 months, Fletchers have been proud to support British Rallycross driver Graham Rumsey in his racing endeavours, and sponsor his Hot Hatch. Graham and his Citroen Saxo have travelled around the country, going from strength to strength on the race track.

Last weekend Graham travelled to Yorkshire for round eight and the season finale of the British Rallycross championship, held at Croft Circuit. Round eight would see the final standing for the 2016 campaign decided.

Although the championship was out of reach for Graham at this point he was still determined to gain one of the other places up to grabs. Despite facing tougher races, Graham made consistent times during the three qualifying heats and drove into second place and a front row spot for the final.

The final itself didn’t disappoint drivers and spectators; with Graham take the flag in third place. However, after a technical infringement the defending champion and event winner was excluded from the event, moving Graham into second place for the round and securing him second place in the championship overall. He narrowly missed out on the top spot by a mere 5 points.

Graham gave his comments on how the race went and how his first year in the championship has been, “I’m delighted with the result, of course, I would have liked to have won the championship in my maiden year but next year I’ll be back to put that right! It was nice to round out the year with a good clean final, where it was all down to driving skills.
It has been a good first year in the championship and my thanks go out to my sponsors, Onwatch plc, Fletchers Solicitors, AP sports and the support from the Xtreme RX team.”

We have been a proud sponsor of Graham this year and it has been great to see him getting on so well after his accident and we wish him luck in his future races. Stay tuned to hear more updates on Graham as he prepares for next season!
