Mental Health Champions entertain guests at Southport Sandpipers resort

June 6, 2019

Five Mental Health Champions from Fletchers Solicitors volunteered at Revitalise, Sandpipers resort yesterday as part of volunteer week 2019.

Fletchers have demonstrated a commitment towards raising mental health awareness in recent months, ensuring employee welfare is a key feature in the company vision.

Part of the initiative involves giving back to the community, with Revitalise, a centre dedicated to providing a holiday experience for individuals with a disability, becoming just one of many newly acquired partnerships.

Alison Pye and Kim Manassian from the firm’s People Team were accompanied by Nurse Analyst Supervisor, Debbie Moore and Solicitor, Pat Hitchen and Medical Records Administrator, Diane Churchill.

Debbie, Mental Health Champion Chair, said:

“When we initially met to discuss why each of us had offered to volunteer, it was overwhelming that we all just wanted to give something back to others.

“I can honestly say I have never laughed so much in ages.

“We were made to feel so welcome and every minute you spend helping at Revitalise is so valuable to their guests.”

The volunteers were given a tour of the building and an overview of what a volunteering session will involve.

The four started the evening juggling plastic balls on a multi-coloured parachute which was followed by participating in a a short quiz with the guests.

A spokesperson from Revitalise, the respite holiday resort for disabled individuals and their Carers, said on social media:

“Today we were visited by a fabulous group of local volunteers from Fletchers Legal, Southport.

“Alison, Debbie, Pat, Diane and Kim all came and got involved with the fun with our activities, chatting to guests and generally having a super time with our guests.

Thank you so much for giving us your time and we can’t wait to see you all again soon!”

Debbie concluded: “The time just flew by and before we knew it the time was over.

“We were even offered an evening meal with the guests as a way of a thank you.

“I personally really enjoyed every minute it and would gladly give up my time again.”
