£30,000 settlement after vehicle collision threw motorcyclist over handle bars

Fletchers Solicitors have successfully represented a 46 year old male who was awarded almost £30,000 in a serious injury legal settlement.
Kevin Emmett, a 46 year old former car salesman from Leeds, was thrown over his Yamaha motorcycle’s bars after another vehicle failed to appropriately stop at a give way marking and caused a crash.
Mr Emmett had just left a set of traffic lights that were on green on Selby Road, Leeds, when the defendant collided with the claimant’s bike.
Prior to the crash, Mr Emmett had to take evasive action and immediately brake due to the defendant being incorrectly positioned in the claimant’s lane.
Despite Mr Emmet’s quick thinking, he still collided with the defendant’s vehicle.
As a result of the collision, Mr Emmett suffered a traverse mid-shaft fracture of the right femur and underwent IM nailing.
Mr Emmet also suffered ongoing pain in his right leg and knee and was recommended a course of physiotherapy treatment. Aside from the physical damage, Mr Emmett also suffered psychologically.
In the wake of the collision the former salesman was found to have a heightened sense of awareness, psychological disorder and PTSD.
Speaking in reflection of the service Mr Emmett received from Fletchers who fought his case, he said: “Thank you so much for your help and support over the last two years”
The third party’s insurer, Aviva, admitted liability on 4th January 2017.
