Andrea Higham

Team Leader and Solicitor

Andrea is a solicitor and team leader in our Employers and Public Liability team. She has been working at Fletchers since 1992, in which time she has fully qualified as a solicitor and gained valuable skills and experience across company; including almost a decade working on accidents at work and injuries sustained in a public place.

In her role as a team leader, Andrea oversees, supervises and mentors a team of legal professionals. She finds great job satisfaction in helping to further develop her team; with a focus on building their skills, experience and training opportunities. Andrea loves being a solicitor, because she gets to forge strong relationships with her clients – who soon become more like friends to her. She finds great reward in being able to use her knowledge and skills to achieve a suitable financial settlement to redress the awful situations that many have found themselves in. Andrea is extremely proud of the relationships that she develops, and considers herself fortunate that her clients trust her to deal with their claims on their behalf.

Notable Settled Cases

A young lady with complex health needs who relies on a carer for her personal care. On the day in question, the carer failed to assist her transfer in the bathroom, and she fell - sustaining a fracture to her lower leg/ankle. Whilst liability was not accepted, the Defendants made a Part 36 offer. This was far too low, and we negotiated a higher sum in line with Counsel’s advice.

TM vs EL

The client was sacked from his job and rendered homeless, ultimately sofa surfing. His mental health spiralled and added to his pain and mobility issues, leaving him feeling desperate. Andrea achieved an admission of liability for him, and a settlement which was enough to enable him to buy his own static caravan.

An 80-year-old lady was dropped by ambulance men when they were transferring her home from hospital. She sustained a fracture to her lower leg. We achieved an admission of liability and a fair settlement for her.
