Notable Settled Cases

An extremely heavy gate fell onto a lady after it slid out beyond its rollers. The client was left with a collapsed chest, fractured pelvis and other injuries which have severely affected her quality of life. The defendant, the gate company, decided to manualise the gate following issues, but no gate stop was installed to prevent it falling and the claimant was not informed. The defendant denied liability for the incident on the basis that they were not the original installers of the gate. Kinga prepared all the documents for the case to go to trial and soon after the claimant was awarded compensation. The Defendant was held 100% liable for the accident.

The claimant, a taxi driver, was on a night shift when his vehicle was crashed into by a person driving a stolen vehicle under the influence. The claimant suffered life changing injuries to his leg requiring several surgeries with no guarantee of full recovery. As a result, he couldn’t work for around three years. When he was finally able to return to work he was advised he would only be able to drive automatic vehicles. The claim went through the Motor Insurers’ Bureau and the claimant was awarded a sum in excess of £90,000.00 in compensation.
