The Finance Team

John Vandermeer

Chief Financial Officer

John is a qualified Chartered Accountant having spent his formative business years with BDO in Australia. After moving to the UK and gaining valuable experience with Booker, 20 years was spent with Booths, the North West family retail business predominantly as its Finance Director. John commenced with Fletchers on a part time basis as CFO in November 2019, joining the business on a fulltime basis in April 2020. As well as Finance, John also looks after the Costs, and the People teams. John is a keen golfer and a passionate rugby supporter and is the current Chairman of Southport Rugby Club.

Alex Lynch

Director of Finance

Alex joined the team at Fletchers in 2016 as our Director of Finance, and brought with her a wealth of finance and accounting knowledge. As a Chartered Management Accountant with over 10 years’ experience within the legal sector, she joined Fletchers as an immediate bridge between our core accounting and legal teams. Alex also ensures all of our financial procedures are compliant with Solicitors Accounts Rules.

Tim Scott

Director of People

As our Director of People, Tim helps to shape and manage our People strategies to continue to attract, develop, support and retain talented people. Tim joined Fletchers in early 2017 bringing with him over 20 years’ experience in HR roles, across a variety of sectors. He ensures all team members at Fletchers can fulfil their maximum potential as we continue to rapidly grow.

Tony Armstrong

Director of Costs

Tony was appointed in 2020, having previously worked as a Director and Chief Executive of a large national independent legal costs company. He has 31 years of experience in all types of civil costs litigation, first qualifying as an Associate, then Fellow of the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen in the mid 1990’s, before converting those qualifications to one of Costs Lawyer in 2008 as a result of regulatory change. As Director of Costs, Tony is responsible for ensuring that the department and wider organisation operates an optimal legal costs recovery process, in compliance with all statutory and legislative requirements. Tony is passionate about developing the experience and skillset of the costs team, in order to enhance the key strategic costs objectives of the overall business. He promotes the philosophy of a technically proficient and operationally efficient service, which recognises that the finalisation of costs is often the final step in a long journey for our vulnerable and seriously injured clients.
