About Me & The Team

Joanne is a team leader and senior solicitor with many years’ experience in dealing with high value and technically complex medical negligence claims. Joanna has also been accredited by the Law Society in clinical negligence.

Her role within the team is to assess medical negligence claims and strategically plan the progression of the case to ensure we achieved the best settlement for our customers. Joanne is responsible for the progression of cases within her team to the point of settlement or issue.

Michael Carson

Senior Fee Earner

Michael is one of Fletchers’ most experienced senior fee earners with around 14 years’ experience in law. Michael utilises the experience he gained when defending medical negligence claims in order to reach the best possible settlement for the team’s customers. Within the team Michael is responsible for corresponding with customers and experts to ensure cases are conducted in a proactive and effective manner, achieving the best settlement for our customers.

Amy-Jo Hughes

Litigation Executive

Amy-Jo is a fee earner within the team she is responsible for drafting letters of claim. She will have an in-depth understanding of the case in order to draft the letter of claim, which will outline the formal allegations we are making. Amy-Jo proactively chases a response to these letters and evaluates the quantum of the case. She will also collate and consider the customer’s losses, and negotiate with the Defendant if an offer of settlement is made.

Rikki Spofforth

Litigation Executive

Rikki joined Fletchers in 2014 and is an assistant fee earner in the team. He is responsible for obtaining expert evidence. Rikki drafts detailed letters of instructions to medical experts in order to build evidence for the case. When he has obtained the expert reports, he will review them and advise the customer of their contents. Rikki is also responsible for drafting a full exhaustive witness statement in support of the case, keeping it updated regularly as the customer’s condition changes

Megann McKay

Litigation Executive

Megann is the junior paralegal in the team; she joined Fletchers in 2014 and is responsible for the collection of medical records and for arranging them to be paginated when they have been obtained. As a junior paralegal, Megann is the first point of contact for customers and is required to liaise with them frequently. She is also responsible for drafting Pre-Action Disclosure applications for the Court in the event that hospitals, doctors or dentists do not disclose the customer’s medical records in a timely manner.
