Colleague Spotlight: Chloe Sweeney

Chloe Sweeney is our Events and Engagement Manager here at Fletchers, in charge of all things colleague engagement, parties, conferences and much more! We sat down with Chloe to discuss how she got to the position she’s in, what advice she would give to her younger self and take a moment to reflect on a successful 2024.

What has been your career path to where you are now?

I worked in hospitality for 16 years, working my way through any role including Front of House all the way to Back of House. After working shifts for many years and seeing the industry go through a pandemic, it made me look at something new and I chose a new career path. I started at Fletchers Group in April 2023 and I’ve never looked back!

At Fletchers, you’re responsible for coordinating our All-Colleague days, where colleagues get together for an in-person workday across each of our offices. What’s your favourite thing about them?

The thing I enjoy most about All-Colleague days is seeing teams want to spend time together and take the time to enjoy the day as much as possible whilst they are in the office. Things at Fletchers have changed so much, as our teams used to be in full time before the pandemic, so it’s great to see their dynamic when they’re all back together. To see staff enjoy the days makes you know the hard work is worthwhile, some colleagues even send emails with thank yous after All-Colleague days which is really kind.

What has been your work highlight of 2024?

In 2024, we have really focused on organising more external events to raise money for our charity partners and of course, our very own Fletchers Foundation. Over the past year, my work highlight is knowing the events I have planned have raised over £30k for such fantastic causes, this makes me smile!

What is your favourite thing about working at Fletchers?

My favourite thing about working at Fletchers is the genuine kindness and respect people have for one another. I have personally never worked in a business like it. I have also never had a job which allows me to put on events for colleagues to encourage them to socialise with one another and their families; it’s heartwarming to not just be able to provide for our people, but also for their loved ones.

If you could give your younger self career advice, what would you say?

I would always say that your hardest critic is yourself, and instead of always looking at what you could have done better, always look at what you did well. It’s a great mindset to have, I think my younger self would’ve benefited from thinking more like that!

What events are you most looking forward to in 2025? Have you got any teasers you can share with us?

I can’t believe how quickly the new year has come around! After such a fantastic year of events, we won’t be slowing down going into 2025… As the business is growing, there is a lot to look forward to! Family fun days are always my favorite, we held two this year at Southport Pleasureland, and it’s lovely to see families enjoying what Fletchers has to offer.

Whilst I can’t share too much, I can say that there are plenty more All-Colleague days coming, and they’re going to be fab! I can’t wait to see what the new year has in store.

What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career? 

The best advice I can think of, and something that I live my life by, is find a career you’ll enjoy. If it doesn’t feel right, then look for something new or a new avenue to go down. Once you’ve found what you enjoy doing, work can become a joy.
