Getting back on the road with the help of specialist cycling claims solicitors

Supporting our client to recover thousands of pounds following a cycling accident
The Incident
We recently helped a cyclist make a compensation claim following an accident he had whilst riding on a road. There was roadworks which were taking place which meant that the cycle lane was closed. As a result, he had to join the main carriageway. After joining the main carriageway, he collided with a pothole. This resulted in our client being thrown over the handlebars sustaining a series of injuries.
The Injuries
– Laceration above the right eye leaving a scar
– A black eye
– Grazing and cuts to the nose, chin, cheek, wrists, knee, and lower lip
The Case
Following the accident, he contacted the specialist cycle accident claim team at Fletchers Solicitors to see if we could help claim compensation to help with his recovery and get him back on the road.
Following an initial case assessment, we were able to inform him that we would be able to help, and he was assigned a specialist lawyer within our cycling team. We started work gathering evidence on behalf of our client to present to the defendants, which in this case was the council, who were responsible for road maintenance.
The Outcome
After we contacted the defendants, the council admitted liability and a breach of duty. We were able to help our client recover thousands of pounds in damages for facial scarring, a bike service, replacement clothing and travel expenses incurred whilst he was without the use of his bicycle.
Our client was extremely happy with the result and is now back riding on his bicycle.
Julian Fox was the specialist cycling claim solicitor who helped our client.
He commented: “It is incredibly rewarding to be able to help clients where they have suffered injuries which can leave a permanent scar. In this case the council had a duty to ensure that the potholes were not the result of accidents. I’m really happy that we were able to help get compensation and enable him to get back on the road.”
