Kirsty Thomas-Horton

I previously worked as a Serious Injury Lawyer, where I saw first-hand how someone’s life can be turned upside down in an instant, often when they least expect it. In those moments, individuals and their families are suddenly thrown into a world of uncertainty, with life-changing consequences that affect every aspect of daily life.

I then had the opportunity to move from legal practice and create our Charity & Partnerships team, now known as the BD Team. This role has allowed me to work closely with a wide range of charities across all of our injury areas and support people on a much broader level.

What drives me is being able to connect people with the right support when they need it most, offering not only practical help, but also clarity and hope during some of the most difficult times in their lives.

I remain closely connected to clients and the wider serious injury community through my work with our charity partners, stakeholders and support organisations. Working alongside these incredible groups gives me valuable insight into the daily challenges that people living with serious injuries can face, as well as the impact this has on their families and support networks. My approach has always been people-focused. I genuinely enjoy meeting people, listening to their experiences and understanding what matters most to them. Often, it is the smallest things that can make the biggest difference to someone’s confidence, independence or wellbeing. I believe in building trusted relationships, being approachable and taking the time to really understand each individual’s situation. By connecting people with the right support, services and communities, I aim to help them feel heard, supported and less alone during difficult times.

Having qualified as a solicitor at Fletchers and then moving into a different role, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with many different teams across the firm. Although I no longer manage a caseload, I still see some of the saddest and most life-changing cases coming into our teams. What reassures me is knowing that our clients are in incredibly safe hands because of the expertise, compassion and dedication shown by the people I work alongside every day.

What makes me most proud to work at Fletchers is our culture. We are human in our approach and treat people with genuine care and compassion. Trust is incredibly important to us, and I believe that is reflected in the way we support both our clients and each other. I also feel very proud of my immediate team, who consistently demonstrate those same values in everything they do. Supporting charities, partners and the wider serious injury community is incredibly rewarding, and I have the privilege of hearing people share their personal stories in such brave and inspiring ways. Those experiences continue to motivate me to keep pushing forward and help more people wherever we can.

Outside of work, family is everything to me. I love spending quality time with my family and there’s nothing better than a traditional family get-together with good food, laughter and catching up with the people closest to me. I also love travelling and experiencing different cultures. I have a real passion for Spain and Mallorca in particular, which started when I worked at Palma Airport and had the opportunity to immerse myself in the language and lifestyle. My husband and I loved it so much that we chose to get married in a beautiful little village in Mallorca a few years ago. I’ve previously done TV extra work and also completed work experience with Sky News, both of which gave me some very different and memorable experiences outside of my legal career.
