Motorcyclist injured in collision with an uninsured driver

The incident 

Our client was travelling by motorcycle when a driver turned right across his path, causing a collision. He suffered a fracture dislocation to his right hip joint complicated by a sciatic nerve injury. He also suffered a cut to his left thigh and his chin, as well as psychological trauma and impairment of his memory and concentration.   

Following the accident, our client underwent surgery to the hip but due to the damage to the joint surface, it is likely he will develop osteoarthritis of the hip and therefore require hip replacement surgery in the future.   

The case and settlement 

The client was represented by associate solicitor Victoria Martin, a member of our personal injury team. The driver of the other vehicle was found to be uninsured, and so the case was brought against him and the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB), under the Uninsured Drivers’ Agreement. Our team was able to secure a compensation settlement of £200,000, which will help significantly as he adjusts to life after serious injury. On resolution of the case, Victoria commented:
