Gall Bladder Removal Complications

Our client underwent surgery to remove her gall bladder but unfortunately a substandard surgical technique was used which resulted in the division of the bile duct.

Further there was a failure to recognise and treat the injury to the bile duct which was not reconstructed until much later.

The expert evidence which we received suggested that the actions of the operating surgeon were indefensible and indeed an early admission was made albeit further expert evidence was necessary dealing with our client’s condition and prognosis. The client had erratic bowel habits, suffered persistent bouts of nausea, was not able to return to work and would need to be monitored for the rest of her life. She also suffered psychologically.

Eventually it was possible to resolve their claim and they accepted the sum of £160,000.

Cystoscopy Damages Urethra

Our client underwent a TVT procedure to deal with her symptoms of urgency and stress incontinence.

During the procedure the surgeon damaged the urethra and it became apparent that he applied excessive force as a result of which our client developed significant incontinence and required numerous procedures thereafter to try and deal with this problem.

However, despite further treatment our client’s symptoms were constant. She had no control over her bladder and experienced leakage when standing, bending or walking. Her life consists of changing her clothes three or four times a day as well as changing her pyjamas a couple of times through the night. She was also forced to change her bedding, washing, drying and ironing the same on a daily basis and had become very dependent upon her daughter.

With our help it was possible to secure an admission of liability and an apology for our client who received a life-changing award of £115,000.00.
