Antonia Jones

I’m an Associate and Brain Injury Team Leader within the Medical Negligence Department, specialising in catastrophic clinical negligence claims, with particular expertise in brain injury, birth injury and spinal cord injury cases.

I have over 20 years’ legal experience and have spent the last 15 years specialising exclusively in claimant clinical negligence, focusing on complex and catastrophic injury claims. I joined Fletchers in 2025 following a career break and return to the UK, having previously held Partner-level positions during my career. I work as part of one of Fletchers’ specialist catastrophic injury teams, investigating and resolving complex claims for clients whose lives have been significantly affected by medical negligence.

I followed in my father’s footsteps and decided to pursue a career in law many years ago. I naturally gravitated towards personal injury and clinical negligence because I found these areas interesting and I enjoyed helping people. I’ve specialised in catastrophic clinical negligence for many years because of the medical complexity of the cases and case strategy. These cases are the most rewarding to me because they have such a profound impact upon people’s lives.

I have a particular interest in brain and spinal injury claims and find this area of work especially rewarding because the compensation and support secured can have a profound impact on injured individuals and their families. I am passionate about helping people recover, rebuild their lives and secure the justice and financial support they deserve after traumatic experiences.

With clients, I adopt a patient and empathetic attitude and I provide regular clear advice. I’m strategic and proactive about achieving interim payments and settlement. I’ve developed years of experience, skill and case strategy successfully settling catastrophic cases including trial experience.

Sumner v Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Trust and ANOR (2015) EWHC-293 (QBD)

Antonia’s client, an elderly but active woman, suffered partial tetraplegia due to negligent care. Despite the challenges, Antonia successfully secured a £1.2 million settlement at trial, exceeding the Defendant’s pre-trial offer.

ANON v Guys and St Thomas’s Hospital NHS Trust

The claimant was left with cerebral palsy due to negligent care during birth. Their injuries involved 4 limb, spastic quadriplegia. The claimant was profoundly cognitively and physically impaired. The claim settled for lump sum £3,371,220 with annual payments of £204,000 until 19 years old and £270,000 thereafter.

The client, a minor, sustained a brain injury and lacked capacity as a result. The injury was caused by undiagnosed cerebral abscess and sinus infection. This was a claim against two GP’s with two different insurers, a settlement figure of £2.9 million was achieved for the client.

The claimant, a 32 year old male, sustained a spinal injury which was exacerbated by a delayed diagnosis and treatment of cauda equina syndrome. After a split trial and although no admissions were ever made, the case settled for £3 million.

The claimant who was a math teacher and enthusiastic long-distance runner before suffering a spinal injury leaving him with partial paraplegia following a delayed diagnosis of a cancerous tumour. The case settled for £2.75 million.

We’re a strong catastrophic injury team dealing mostly with multi million pound brain injury cases. These cases include a variety of complex medical issues such as vegetative state cases, birth injury, child and adult brain injury often involving a loss of capacity and lifelong care.

I joined Fletchers January 2025 after a career break and travel. I was rapidly promoted to an Associate and a Team Leader reflecting career opportunity. Fletchers is a friendly firm and I have a talented team working on high value complex cases of maximum severity, I’m lucky to work with them.

My hobbies outside of work include travelling, painting, reading and watching movies. I also keep active by running and doing yoga, which I enjoy spending time doing.
