I support families who have been affected by failures in medical care, specialising in complex brain and spinal injury cases, as well as fatal claims. I’ve dedicated most of my legal career to clinical negligence work, and I’m accredited by the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Scheme in recognition of my experience.

I began my career straight from school as an office assistant, gaining experience across a range of legal areas before finding my passion in medical negligence and beginning my journey to qualification.

I’ve handled a wide range of medical negligence claims for both children and adults, involving all types of healthcare professionals across the public and private sectors. I’ve also developed a specialist niche in catastrophic brain and spinal injury cases, and fatal cases, including representing families at inquests; bringing Judicial Review proceedings and cases involving deaths in custody, or while detained under the Mental Health Act.

I do this work because it gives me the opportunity to make a positive difference in people’s lives. When someone is injured and facing an uncertain future through no fault of their own, it’s a privilege to support them in seeking answers and moving forward. Being able to play even a small part in helping clients rebuild their lives is what motivates me every day.

I’m always on my client’s side, even when the evidence might be challenging. I take the time to listen, understand and carefully investigate every concern. Where there’s a case to be made, I won’t give up and am determined to achieve the right outcome.

My client was a newborn baby, who suffered from birth a delay in diagnosis and treatment of Haemolytic Disease of the Newborn resulting in Kernicterus (severe and permanent brain injury). Their parents came to me traumatised, with little understanding of what had happened, and what the future might hold for their precious baby. They needed answers and help, both of which were provided. Through my investigations, a claim was established and liability promptly admitted. This gave the family answers and some much-needed hope for the future. The ability to obtain financial interim payments helped them provide for their child’s needs and also their own needs, whilst they navigated a new way of life. The case settled by agreement with Court approval, for a lump sum and lifetime annual payments. This enabled provision of around-the-clock care, a newly adapted family home and the ability for the whole family to move forward with their lives, with peace of mind and certainty for the future. Capitalised, the value of the claim was more than £20 million.

Our client’s mother had enjoyed a healthy pregnancy, but a missed diagnosis of breech presentation led to a traumatic delivery. As a result, the child suffered a lack of oxygen at birth, causing severe cerebral palsy and significant lifelong physical and cognitive disabilities.

The case was complex, with liability disputed and an additional genetic condition to consider. Despite this, we secured a settlement worth over £10 million, including ongoing payments. This has enabled the family to access suitable housing, specialist care and long-term support, giving them reassurance about their child’s future. It brought peace and comfort to my client’s parents, who could now return to the role of parent and not just carers.

One case that will always stay with me involved securing a new inquest more than 40 years after the death of a five-year-old boy. He had died following a routine operation, but serious failings in the original investigation left his parents without answers. Due to the passage of time, sadly, Mum died never learning of what had happened to her son all those years before. This made Dad evermore determined to learn of the true circumstances of his son’s death. It was a privilege to support my client in finally securing the answers he and his former wife had so desperately sought into how their young son had come by his death. After 40 enduring years, my client was able to feel he had achieved some closure.
