Solicitors successfully recover compensation for football coach injured at activity assault course
Settlement Figure: £7,970
Lawyer assigned to the case: Dawn Delaney
Prior to this incident, our client worked as an Isolation Planner for railways and in his free time he coached a local under-14 football team. In June 2022, our client took the team to an activity assault course as a team bonding experience. Our client was doing a course involving a rope swing. The rope swings suddenly snapped, causing him to fall, landing on sleepers underneath. He unfortunately suffered soft tissue injuries to his neck, upper and lower back. Due to his injuries, our client also had to remain off work for six weeks. Following this he returned to light duties.
This case was handled by Dawn Delaney, Litigation Executive. Dawn sent the defendants the client’s allegations to which they admitted fault immediately. This allowed the client to put the case behind him quickly and avoided the need for negotiations. The client hopes to get back to coaching.
Woman receives £12K due to fall caused by hospital staff
Settlement figure: £12,000
Lawyer assigned to the case: Andrea Higham
After being discharged from hospital, our client was taken home via patient transport provided by the defendant. When she arrived at her house, the ambulance crew tried to lift our client from the stretcher into her wheelchair. Unfortunately, they dropped her, causing her to land on the floor sitting on one leg and gave out a very loud scream of pain. Following the incident, the hospital staff made no attempt to check her legs even though our client complained that she was in pain. She sustained a fracture to her left ankle and shin bone. Both her ankle and shin bone were very painful and swollen.
The case was handled by Team Leader and Solicitor, Andrea Higham. Andrea argued that our client, who was 80 years old, should have been able to trust those who were looking after her on that day. She relied upon using the transport offered due to her ongoing health issues and should not have sustained an injury in these circumstances. Following receipt of our allegations, the defendants accepted liability and the case settled in November 2023.
Upon reflection of the case, our client stated that they ‘found Andrea to be very approachable and friendly. She has been lovely with us and more of a friend than a Solicitor.’
