Fletchers launches maternity training grants to support midwives and maternity professionals
Midwives, obstetricians and other maternity and neonatal professionals across the UK are being invited to apply for a new training grant programme designed to support professional development and learning in maternity care.
Fletchers Solicitors has launched the Fletchers Maternity Training Grants Programme, offering quarterly grants of up to £300 to help maternity professionals attend training courses, conferences and professional development opportunities.
Access to funded external training can sometimes be challenging due to the pressures facing maternity services, meaning professionals may not always be able to attend external training events.
The programme aims to help address this challenge by providing small grants to support maternity professionals in developing their skills and knowledge through continued professional learning.
The grants are open to professionals working across both NHS and independent maternity services.
Fletchers is one of the UK’s leading serious injury and clinical negligence law firms, with a specialist birth injury team that supports families affected by serious birth injuries. Through this work, the firm also contributes to wider conversations around learning, safety and improvement in maternity care.
Trevor Ward, Partner and Head of Birth Injury at Fletchers Solicitors, said:
“Midwives and maternity professionals play an incredibly important role in supporting mothers, babies and families at one of the most significant moments in their lives.
Through our work with families affected by serious birth injuries, we understand how important ongoing learning and professional development are in maternity care.
We hope this programme will help make it a little easier for maternity professionals to access valuable training opportunities, share knowledge with colleagues and continue the vital work they do for families every day, without interfering with their important midwifery or obstetric roles in their day-to-day work.”
The programme forms part of Fletchers’ wider commitment to supporting families affected by birth injury and driving positive change across maternity care through its Every Birth. Every Baby. Every Family. campaign.
How the programme works
The Fletchers Maternity Training Grants Programme will run quarterly funding rounds throughout the year. Successful applicants can receive grants of up to £300 to support attendance at training courses, conferences and other professional learning opportunities relevant to maternity and neonatal care.
The programme is open to professionals working in maternity and neonatal services across both the NHS and independent sector, including midwives, obstetricians, maternity safety specialists and other professionals involved in maternity care. Applicants may submit one application per person per quarter.
Recipients will also be invited to share insights from the training they attend through a short blog or webinar, helping to share learning with the wider maternity community.
Applications can be submitted through the online form here.
