Who am I

I started my career in law working for a local council and also gained experience handling claims involving Merseyside Police. I later spent seven years working within the NHS, where I dealt with complex and high value claims, public enquiries, inquests and investigations. That experience gave me a real understanding of healthcare systems from the inside and helped shape the way I approach my work today.

Over the years, I have worked on a broad range of medical negligence claims, supporting clients affected by everything from delayed diagnoses and surgical errors to orthopaedic, cancer, medication, and ophthalmic claims. I enjoy getting to the heart of a case and helping people find answers at what can be one of the most difficult times in their lives.

Why I do this work

Having worked within the NHS, I have seen firsthand how improvements can happen when issues are identified and brought to light. Often, that starts with someone having the courage to ask questions and pursue a claim. I am a big supporter of the NHS and want it to be the best it can be.

For me, this work is about more than compensation. It is about helping people understand what happened, giving them a voice, and ensuring lessons can be learned to improve care for others in the future.

How I work with clients

I love working with people and naturally build strong relationships with my clients. I believe the best outcomes come when people feel comfortable and know they can be open and honest with me. I always try to create an environment where clients feel supported and reassured throughout the process.

I often say that clients become more than just names on a file. We spend a lot of time working together during what can be very difficult periods in their lives, so building trust and treating people with genuine care is incredibly important to me. It is not unusual for conversations to move beyond legal matters and onto family, holidays, pets, or future plans, and I think that reflects the relationships that are built along the way.

Outcomes

ANON

I acted for a taxi driver who suffered medical negligence following a neck fracture.

During the course of the case, he told me he had been struggling emotionally and had lost some confidence following his injury. After settlement, he shared that the outcome had given him renewed motivation and a focus for the future, with plans to buy his own taxi and work for himself. Seeing him regain that confidence and optimism was something I was incredibly proud of.

L S -v- Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

I managed to prove that the Defendant did not provide a ‘call bell’ to allow the client to call for assistance. We obtained telephone records to show that the client had to call the hospital from her bed; leading to a settlement in this case of negligent iron infusion.

Inquiry into Hyponatremia Related Deaths

I was involved with this Public Inquiry in Northern Ireland, assisting with the investigation. The Inquiry concluded with 96 recommendations for endemic changes, as well as disciplinary actions.

G W -v- Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust

Acting for the family of a man who passed away during negligent surgery, I secured £80,000 for his wife.

My team

We are a very close knit team and genuinely support one another. We regularly share knowledge and guidance, and because we work so closely together we often know each other’s clients too. That creates continuity and means clients always have a team around them who are invested in helping them achieve the best outcome possible.

What I enjoy about working at Fletchers

What I enjoy most is helping people, whether that is supporting clients through difficult periods in their lives or helping colleagues within the team. Seeing someone get the answers, justice, and support they deserve never stops being rewarding. That feeling of helping someone rebuild their life is something I still enjoy just as much today as when I first started.
